Alice Gertrude Averil's Obituary
Alice G. Averill age 90 was born in Hart, Michigan on April 17, 1931 to the late Lawrence E. and Pearl J. (Wilcox) Wood and passed away on November 7, 2021. Along with her parents Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Philip Averill; and her five siblings, Katherine Kitchka, Gweneth Nickoloff, Dollive Nelson, Florence Davies, and Rupert Thompson. Survivors include her two children, Paula (Craig) Peter, and Raymond (Char) Averill; grandchildren, Steven (Cindy) Peter, Adam (Victoria) Peter, Leah (Mike) Gartner, Anjie (Barry) Klecka, Dawn (Torry) Hughes, and Shanna Averill; numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Alice was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she was active in many areas of the church including the YAH Group. Alice was an avid game player and loved to entertain especially with both family and friends. Visitation will be held at Shoreline Memorial Services, 137 E. Laketon Ave. Muskegon on Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Olivet Evangelical Free Church, 6790 Harvey Street, Spring Lake, Michigan on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 12:00 noon, Pastor James Swieringa officiating. Alice will be interred next to her husband Philip in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to Muskegon Rescue Mission.
