Arturo Mendez's Obituary
Arturo (aka Turo or Tuti) Mendez peacefully entered into the gates of Heaven on Friday, October 2, 2020, after fighting a long battle with cancer. He was the 7
th
child of Eluterio and Ofelia (Amaya) Mendez, born on April 19, 1960. Arturo was preceded in death by both his parents, brothers Jose Carlos Mendez and David Mendez, brothers-in-law, Jesus Marinez, Pablo Ramirez, and Alfonso Rodriguez; niece Melissa Marinez and great-nephew Isaiah Garza. He is survived by siblings, Cris (Lee Mireles) Marinez, Sylvia Rodriguez, Diana Estrada, Gloria Ramirez, Juan (Michelle) Mendez and Patty (Scott) Haiker, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and nephews. Also survived by Arturo are Charlotte and Alex Carrillo and Aaron Clincy whom he raised like his own children.
Arturo served in the United States Navy for 4 years and had a passion for cooking, playing the congas, percussion instruments and a strong follower of the band Santana and Poncho Sanchez. Arturo was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
A memorial will be held Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the VFW Post 3734, located at 5201 Airline Road, Muskegon, Michigan 49444 starting at 1:00 p.m.
