Avanthea "Avie" Eliopulos' Obituary
Avanthea (Cheones) Eliopulos, "Avie" was born on July 28, 1931 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late William and Anna (Pattakos) Cheones, and passed away surrounded by her family on January 5, 2018 at the age of 86. Avie was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Daniel Eliopulos. She is survived by her three children, Mary (John) Pollack, Peter (Teri) Eliopulos, and Kathy (Andy) Burgher, all of Muskegon; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; sisters, Cleo (Donald) Harakas of North Muskegon, Connie (Nick) Katsaros of Hinckley, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Avie was a lifetime and active member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 185 E. Pontaluna Road, where she was president of the Ladies of Philoptochos Society for 10 years, Secretary/Treasurer of the Daughters of Penelope and where Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held also at the church on Wednesday, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a Trisagion Service starting at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be next to her husband Daniel in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
