Bernard P. Gillish's Obituary
Bernard Peter Gillish IV, age 86 went to be with his Savior on July 2, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Louise Swiftney-Gillish; daughter, Renee Gillish; father, Pete Gillish; mother, Harriett Anderson; and best friend Bob Fields.He is survived by his children, Amanda (Tony) Shoup, of Fruitport, Monica (Scott Broton) Fox, of Ravenna, Bernie "Bryan" Gillish, of Fruitport; grandchildren, Michelle (Rich) Serritos, Luke, Colin, Troy (Sabrina) Fox, Morgan and Elizabeth, Tiffany (Damien) Fox, Decklan and Sawyer, Jacob (Whitney) Fox, Hailee, Conner, Sedona, Harper, and Riley; sister, Bunny (Pete) Pellegrom.Bernard was a retiree of C.W.C. Textron. He was a member and Deacon of Blue Lake Community Church, Gods Gospel Singing Group, Ducks Unlimited, and Past President of the Ravenna Conservation Club.Bernie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved farming, gardening, and birdwatching. He also raised and released pheasants for many years. Bernie came from a musical family. He played many musical instruments including guitar, steel guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, concertina and was a bass singer. He came from a lineage of auto mechanics. His family owned and operated Gillish's Garage in Muskegon.A loving husband to Louise "Weasel", father, grandfather, great-grandfather, he used every moment as a teaching moment for his grandchildren. He loved serving the Lord and helping people.A Celebration of Life Service for both Bernard and Louise will be held at Blue Lake Community Church in Twin Lake, located at 10981 Blue Lake Road, in Holton, Michigan 49425 on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 12:00 noon with Pastor Kevin Pycraft officiating.For their love of animals memorial contributions may be directed to the Noah Project, 5205 Airline Road, Muskegon, Michigan 49444
