Bertha Marie Ruch's Obituary
Bertha "Bert" Marie Ruch, age 98 was born on November 30, 1924, to the late Daniel and Alice DeWitt and passed away at Dogwood Shores Assisted Living on August 19, 2023. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Edward "Ted" Ruch; a brother, Donald DeWitt. Survivors include her sister, Marilyn Sokolowski; several nieces and nephews.
Bert was retired from Ottawa County where she served as Deputy Drain Commissioner and worked in the office for a career spanning 43 years on the job. Bert was an avid crafts painter and made seasonal and decorative items. She was a vendor at community craft fairs for many years. She enjoyed recycling greeting cards adding her own creative touch and shared many cards with both family and friends. The family wishes to express many thanks to the staff of Dogwood Shores Assisted Living and the entire team of Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers leave a donation to Hospice of North Ottawa Community 18525 Woodland Ridge Drive, Spring Lake, Michigan 49456
