Brandon Ashton Culp - Holmes age 30, departed this life Thursday, October 12,2023 surrounded by family and loved ones. Brandon was born April 3, 1993, inMemphis, Tennessee to John Holmes and Carolyn Holmes-Culp. He was raised in Muskegon,Michigan.
Brandon was a member of Christ Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith under theleadership of Sufg. Bishop Willie Burrell, Jr. Brandon accepted Jesus Christ as his Lordand Savior at a young age. Brandon looked to Bishop as a mentor and friend.
Brandon attended Muskegon Heights Public Schools until tenth grade, and ultimatelygraduated from Muskegon High School in 2011. After high school, Brandon moved toWinston-Salem, NC to attend Winston-Salem State University. In 2019, Brandonmatriculated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Brandon continued hiseducation at North Carolina A&T State University and graduated in 2021 with aMasters of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. At the time of histransition, Brandon was pursuing a PhD in Mathematics.
Brandon had a gift for teaching others and was known to encourage everyone heknew to fulfill their potential. Brandon used his gift for teaching to empower theyouth of Muskegon Heights by serving as a high school mathematics teacher atMuskegon Heights High School.
Brandon loved his family and had a special place in his heart for his grandfather,Rev. Cleophis Culp Sr. It was not a secret that Brandon was Cleophis' favoritegrandchild. The affection was mutual. Brandon's favorite place to be was with hisgrandfather. Although his mom named him Brandon, he referred to himself asCleophis Culp III.
Brandon leaves to cherish his memory his parents, John Holmes and Carolyn HolmesCulp; his one special sister Alyssa Johnson; two nieces Brailyn Johnson and AshlynHarden; one nephew Andre Harden, Jr., three aunts Brenda (Ernest) Herman, MarilynBeene, and Vickie Johnson; one uncle Emil (Pat) Culp; 48 cousins who loved himdearly; and a host of other friends, students, colleagues and loved ones.
Brandon was preceded in death by his grandparents Rev. Cleophis and WyivinineCulp of Muskegon, Michigan and Walter and Essie Holmes of Millington, Tennessee; five unclesWayne Morris-Culp, Cleophis Cup Jr., Gary Culp, Tyler Brown and Edman Beene; twoaunts Lynda Culp, and Sherry Pace; and 2 cousins Morgan Culp and Gary CulpPhillips, Jr.
