Carol Ann Verhoeven's Obituary
Carol Ann Verhoeven, age 85, was born on February 11, 1941, and passed away on February 21, 1941, after a courageous battle with Ulcerative Colitis. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Donald Verhoeven, the father of her children, Eugene Sheffer, her parents, John and Maxine DeYoung; brother, John DeYoung, sister, Sharon Young, nephew, Mark Rundquist and her sons, Rick and Russell Sheffer.
Survivors include her son Randy (Angie) Sheffer and daughter, Robin (Rodney) Stenberg; grandchildren, Christopher (Melissa), Jessica ( Matt), Joshua, Jared (Carey), Derrick (Dorothy), Desera (Sean), Ricky, Justin, and Kayleigh; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brayden, Sophia, Adrianna, Kayden, MaKenzie, Connor, Jackson, Alex, Emery, Elynn, Bode, Dustin, Phoenix, Jersey, Jordynn, Jayce, Kendal, Sophia, DaKodah, Makayla, Jayden, Cameron, Alexis, and Karson; bonus daughters, Ronda, and Judy; bonus grandson, Chris P.; several nieces, nephews along with the Velazquez and Verhoeven families.
Carol loved crafting, she would have booths set up at craft shows selling her beautiful merchandise. She liked road trips up North going to get the famous Smoked Hotdogs, and of course there were stops along the way to give her “donations.” She collected elephants and cardinals her backyard was the enjoyment of anyone who stopped over. They could see birds of every kind. When she was able to, she would attend her great-grandkids sporting events. She loved watching them play. She loved her family and was so proud of them.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place. She attended Fellowship Church, 4200 E. Apple Ave. in Muskegon where a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Muskegon Christian Schools or Fellowship Church Memorial Fund.
