Carolyn Mahoney's Obituary
Carolyn Joyce (Yager) Mahoney passed away at the age of 89 surrounded by family in her home on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Carolyn "Sis" started dating Don Mahoney when she was in 7th grade. He invited her to a boy scout hayride after she moved from Whitehall to Montague. She went on to marry Don, the love of her life, at the ripe old age of 18. Together, they traveled throughout the U.S. while he was in the Air Force. They were married for 70 years and raised 5 wonderful children (who all thought they were the favorite). Sis' children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her entire life. She loved giving them baths, making them milkshakes, and teaching the kids there is never enough sugar on your cereal or fruit. Her recipes of Oatmeal Cookies and Pumpkin Bread will live on but will never be the same.
Sis enjoyed hula hooping and could challenge anyone to a contest AND win. She was a master at Rummikub, Five Crowns and could beat Don any day in cribbage. Sis was competitive in games, but her passion was... cleaning. Yes...cleaning! Her house was always immaculate, her clothes (and her husband's and children's) were never wrinkled, and her windows were always sparkling.
Sis was funny, witty, and loved to laugh with her family. She lived her life to the fullest. Her memory will live on in the legacy she leaves with her family, and she will be waiting in heaven for Don. In the meantime, she will be making sure heaven is nice and clean for his arrival.
