Colbert Burt, Jr.'s Obituary
Colbert Burt, Jr., age 62, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. He was born in Muskegon on July 28, 1954 to Colbert Sr and Mattie (Riley) Burt. Colbert is survived by his devoted companion and partner of 30 years, Cheri Jones; eight children, Chauncey Bankhead, Colbert Stevon Bankhead, Charzell Bankhead, all of Muskegon, Deondra Jones of Ypsilanti, MI, Catrease (Marvin) Gray of Lansing, MI, Charlie Flowers of Grand Rapids, MI, Adjuan Monroe and Roshawn James, both of Detroit, MI; step-children, Deshorn Jones, Dennis Long, DeMarcus Jones and Deonna Elzy; 26 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Frankie Burt of Muskegon; 3 sisters, Marion Palmer, Carolyn Lawrence, both of Muskegon and Genever Hallum of Detroit; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He had worked at Big Lots and later at Geer Press. Colbert enjoyed playing the lottery and eating hamburgers and steaks. He was a Cadillac car enthusiast but mostly enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. A Memorial Gathering celebrating Colbert's life will take place on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Shoreline Memorial Services. Memorial contributions can be made to Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence.
