Constance Kayner's Obituary
Constance "Connie" Kayner, age 93 was born on February 16, 1928, in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Conrad and Laura (Martin) Anderson and passed away on December 5, 2021. Along with her parents Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Kayner; a son, Mark Seifert Sr.; sister, Dolores Anderson; and daughter-in-law, Kathie Kolkema Seifert; and her former husband, Bruno Seifert, Jr. Survivors include her five children, Eric (Denise Montambo) Seifert, Kurt (Patty) Seifert, Joel (Karen) Seifert, Craig (Kim) Seifert, and Gabrielle Seifert; three sisters, Valerie Sikkenga, Janet Ulrich, and Gail Kowalski; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Connie was an accomplished entrepreneur. When she had difficulty finding sitters for her six children, she established Sitters Registry Service. She was called to provide assistance for a young adult car accident victim. The local hospitals took notice and began requesting aides for elderly and others. SRS morphed into a home healthcare agency which was purchased by Upjohn in the mid 70s. Connie later opened an office for Upjohn in Kansas City.
When she returned to Michigan, Connie moved to Traverse City to marry Lee Kayner. She established the Women's Resource Center Thrift Shop there and later ran the office for Maple Island Log Homes' Suttons Bay office.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Life Circles.
