Dale R. Bouwkamp's Obituary
Dale Russell Bouwkamp, age 64 passed away on April 19, 2014 after a 2 ? year battle with cancer. Dale is survived by his wife of 42 ? years, Deborah; his son, Carl Bouwkamp; daughter, Jill (Blaine) Switzer; grandchildren, Chevy Bouwkamp, Aleigha Kolberg, Cayden and Justin Switzer; his beloved mother, Helen (Bill) Thorpe, sister, Linda (Don) Michaels, mother-in-law, Gladys (Don) Wohlford; brothers-in-law, Dennis Paris and Dale (Tina) Wohlford; sister-in-law, Joann Paris; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Bouwkamp, Jr. Dale was a decorate Vietnam Veteran and member of VFW Post 5598 and the American Legion. He worked for Johnston Boiler Co., Falcon Tool & Die and Shape Corporation. Woodworking was his passion, he made many crafts, furniture, backscratchers and spoons. He loved to read, cook, BBQ, garden and walk outdoors. The family pet cat, Ace, Maggie, Lily and Goldie were a joy to him. Dale had many fine memories shooting 9-ball with friends. Feeding the birds and squirrels daily was a great joy, and he was always a Detroit Tigers Fan! Going up to the Spirit in the sky"?..that's what I'll do when I die (his favorite song)"?..many memories. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at the Veterans Memorial in Lakeshore Cemetery.
