Daniel Chester Hanes' Obituary
Daniel Chester Hanes, age 77, was born on May 25, 1948, in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Eric E. “Lucky” and Betty J. (Ellison) Hanes and passed away on May 23, 2026. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel L. Hanes; brother, Robert D. Hanes; brother-in-law, Dale W. VanDonkelaar; sister-in-law, Sandra K. Pfenning; father and mother-in-law, Wilford “Bill” and E. Alice VanDondelaar. Survivors include his wife Linda L. Hanes; son, William E. (Tonya) Hanes; granddaughter, Amber S. Hanes; siblings, Gerald (Patricia) Hanes, Jeanne (John) Jager; Bruce Hanes, Eric (Corine) Hanes; brothers-in-law, Steve (Deb Godesibois) VanDonkelaar, Fred (Lori) VanDonkelaar, and John Pfenning.
Dan retired from the City of Norton Shores as the Deputy Fire Chief in 2001. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Interment will take place next to his son Daniel in Norton Cemetery.
