Darrell Shafer's Obituary
Darrell, age 77 was born on November 25, 1939 to the late Wayne and Margeret (Feister) Shafer and passed away on July 28, 2017. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Baby Faith. Darrell is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Barb Shafer; three children, Wayne (Bobbie) Shafer of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, Debra Westerhouse of Twin Lake, Steve (Lisa) Shafer of Muskegon; ten grandchildren, Tiffany, Lindsey, Kendra, Stephanie, Nick, Andrew, Josh, David, Bradley, and Trevor; four great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Makayla, Parker and Zane; siblings, Richard (Shar) Shafer of Fruitport, Geraldine (Richard) Bectel of Holton, Joyce (Don) Monroe of Mass City, Ellen (Jim) Verschueren of Walkerville, and Jeff (Sharry) Shafer of Walkerville; several nieces and nephews, including, Tonya Shafer. Darrell was a veteran of the United States Army, he had a passion for repairing vehicles from which he made his career. He was a generous and giving person, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, boating and bowling. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1206 Whitehall Road, with Reverend Bill Uetricht officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family to help offset medical expenses.
