David M. Scouten's Obituary
David Michael Scouten, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2024. He was born in Muskegon, MI on June 20, 1943, to Floyd and Melvina (Borgarding) Scouten and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1961. David served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War where he received the Air Force Commendation Medal.
He married the former Peggy St. Denis on February 23, 1975, and they were able to spend 49 years together.
Dave worked as a foreman at several area plants and was a long-haul truck driver until retirement. He was a member of the Viking Linne Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Dave was also a member of First Congregational Church.He is survived by a son, Jim (Errica) Witham Jr.; daughters, Kristen (Steve) Hendrickson, Tracie Samdal and Molly (Brian) Graves; grandchildren, Matthew, Nikole, Seth, Danielle and Jessica Witham, Katie, Sarah (fiancée Nick Arnold) and Ben Hendrickson, Devon and Whitney Samdal, Ella and Samantha Graves; sister, Arlene Elder of CA; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maxine Shannon; twin brother, Donald and by an infant daughter, Susan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Vikings, located at 3132 Lakeshore Drive in Muskegon, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. with Military Honors starting at 12:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, envelopes will be available at the Vikings.
