Francis M. Counahan's Obituary
Francis M. "Frank"? Counahan age 96 was born in Pentwater on February 7, 1918 to the late James J. and Cora P. (Genter) Counahan and passed away on January 1, 2015. Frank is survived by his wife of 75 years, Geraldine "Geri"?. Together they had seven children, three surviving, Sandi (Doug) Telgenhof, Mary (Jim) Anderson, and Jim Counahan; eight grandchildren, Paul Jorgensen, Jeff Browning, Michelle Woodwyk, Todd Browning Heidi DeZeeuw, Benjamin Browning, Kevin Anderson, Melissa Anderson; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four children, Jeraldine Frances, Mary Margaret, Barbara Kay, Jeanne Elizabeth and a grandson, James Scott Anderson. Frank was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He retired from Continental Motors where he served as Chief Union Steward. He also served as a Sunday school teacher at several area churches in Ludington. He spent several years working in Prison Ministry and as a church elder along with being a Hospice volunteer. Frank lived casually, so honor him by attending the service in casual dress. Frank was a member of Mona Shores Baptist Church, 3800 Lake Harbor Road in Muskegon, where funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Tom Siefert officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Military Honors will be provided by the Grand Haven American Legion Post 28. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Ludington, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence or Mona Shores Baptist Church.
