Fransico "Poncho" Alviar's Obituary
Fransico Alviar "Poncho" age 68, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018. He was born in Muskegon on June 1, 1950 to Cesario and Phyllis Alviar. He is survived by his children, Jayson Alviar and daughter, Christine Pratt; 7 brothers, James Sr. (Mary), Cesar (Lois), Guadalupe, Danny (Kim), Richard (Darlene), John (Carol) and George (Ginger) Alviar; 2 sisters, Maria (Joe) Langley and Patsy Chalko; 6 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Poncho was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Henry Alviar. He had worked as an expert construction worker and during the Vietnam War he joined the U.S. Army at the age of seventeen. Poncho spent time at the VFW Post 7729 were he enjoyed socializing with everyone and "having a few" with special friend, Harvey Gould. He liked having friends and family over to the house, especially his cousin Rey Vargas, to eat Scribb's Pizza and to visit. He was known as the "Pancake Man" and was always willing to help with a family project. Poncho will be remembered for his quotes of "I'll do it my way" and "Hold that thought". A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place on Monday, August 20, 2018 starting with Military Honors at 2:00 PM, at the VFW Post 7729, 6285 E. Apple Ave. in Muskegon. Memorial contributions can be made to the Muskegon County Council Honor Guard.
