Gary "Butch" L. Salter's Obituary
Gary L (Butch) Salter, age 76, passed away Tuesday 3, 2023. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan to Kenneth R Salter (Bud) and Corrine F Langston.Butch was proud of being "Bunker School boy". He resided in the Muskegon County for the majority of his life. Except for his tour of Vietnam courtesy of the US Navy and a few years in Alaska selling Subarus where he achieved the distinction of lead in sales for the years 1979-1980. He was a car man his entire life. When he returned to Michigan, he owned a car lot in Rothbury from 1995-2015.Butch wore out" 2 Corvettes and 2 Triumphs. The Triumphs were a TR7 and GT6. The Corvettes were a Stingray and a C6. He spent many an afternoon cruising the back roads and two tracks of Michigan.He built his home on Skeels road in Montague in the early 80's which has been the site of many family reunions and other shenanigans since. His love of nature was evident by the beautiful flower gardens he tended on his property. This home remains in the family today.He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth, Mother Corrine; Brother's Craig, Keith and John.He is survived by a son Stephen (Katie); siblings, Neil Derochey, Steven Salter (Leslie), Desty Derochey (Geralyn), Darcy Cunningham (Mark), Rocke Derochey (Pam) and Tammie Derochey as well as sister-in-law Jo Derochey, two grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews along with a cast of characters of friends and adopted family members that are too numerous to mention.Butch expressed great gratitude for the love and support of his family and friends during his illness.Memorial to be determined.
