Gerald Strayer's Obituary
Gerald "Jerry"? Strayer age 81 was born on February 9, 1935 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Clyde and Nellie Strayer and passed away at home on November 1, 2016. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa in 1990; three siblings, Carlton Strayer, Myrna Hodges, and a sister, Shirley in infancy. Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Carol Ann Strayer and Patricia (Robin) Cox; step-daughters, Mylinda (Brandon) Johnivan and Melissa Robillard; grandchildren, Joseph Kahlo and Danielle Cox; four brothers, Roy, Dale, Wayne (Bette), and Ron (Vicki) Strayer; sister, Arlene Leatherman; several nieces and nephews; canine companion, "Cruiser". Jerry is a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He retired from CWC and was a member of the American Legion in Holton, the Lakeside Eagles Arrie #3306, and the West Michigan Street Rod Association. He was an avid camper, woodworker, and street rodder. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at the Salvation Army Church located at 1221 Shonat Street in Muskegon, on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army or Harbor Hospice.
