Gretchen Gail "Gay" Toy, age 74 of Montague, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2018 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born in Norwich, CT on March 21, 1944 to the late Charles Mallory and Gretchen (Brown) Toy.
She was a 1962 graduate of North Muskegon High School and had also earned her bachelor's Degree in Education at Michigan State University. For many years she worked for Reeths Puffer Schools as an 8
th
Grade Science Teacher. Her knowledge of science was a passion she passed on to her students. She retired in 2010 to help care for her elderly mother, whom she resided with.
To know her was to love her- her intelligence was vast on many subjects. She was kind, compassionate, full of wit, and avid M.S.U. fan, and loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father Charles in 1989 and her mother Gretchen in 2012.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her sister Judith (Charles) Schecter of Davison, Michigan; her nephew, Charles Schecter IV of Goodrich, Michigan; her niece Jodi Schecter of Davison, Michigan; numerous cousins and friends, her beloved rescue donkey, "Hank" and cats, "Jimmy" and "Johnnie".
Our bond of love will live on forever, and always remember that "I love you more".
According to her wishes cremation has taken place and no services are to be held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society or ARC of Muskegon.
