Harry L. Gemmel's Obituary
Harry Lawrence Gemmel, 79 of Muskegon, passed away peacefully at Christian Care Assisted Living. He was an avid bingo player and truly loved and enjoyed all of his friends at the home.
He was born and raised in Brimley, MI. Served in the US Army and was based in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He served as a marksman during the war and earned conduct medals and a National Defense Service Medal. He spent the remainder of his life in Fruitport, MI and shared his extraordinary love for his family, friends, gardening, casino, and his work. He was employed at Eagle Ottawa Leather Company for 41 years until he retired in 1993. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Stanley Gemmel and Lucy Marie Lynn Gemmel, his beloved wife, Joyce (Hartle) Gemmel, and brother Scott Gemmel.
Harry is survived by his sisters Kitty Wright, Tootsie (Louis) Peffers, and his partner Phyllis Hosington. In addition, his surviving Sons Steve (Kathy) Gemmel, Bryan (Donna) Gemmel, and Daughter Wendy (Timothy) Fookes. He has many wonderful great and grandchildren.
The family has planned a celebration of life on Monday, February 21st at 5-8pm with a light dinner being served. It will be held at Whitlow's Forerunner in Muskegon, MI. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Muskegon County Veterans Service Center.
