James J. Dillon's Obituary
Born April 27, 1949, in Hunt's Point hospital to James John Dillon and Margaret (Nee Lenihan), James (Jim) Dillon was the sixth of six children.James John Dillon had emigrated from Ardfert Kerry and Margaret from Lixnaw. They lived in the Lenox Hill section of the Bronx until November 1955 when they moved to the Country Club section of the Bronx where Jim entered St. Benedict elementary school, graduating in 1963. In September 1963 he enrolled in St. Raymond's High School for boys located in Parkchester and graduated in 1967. Jim left New York City for St. Johns University in Collegeville Minnesota intending to join the Benedictine community there. He did that in 1969 but discovered a year and a half later that this was not his calling. Jim returned to academic study at the C.G. Jung institute in Zurich Switzerland concurrent with his last year at St. Johns.Jim's work endeavors included Paine Webber, Northwest Airlines, Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California, which he retired from in 2014. In addition to a BA from St. Johns University he attained a M.A. in counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, California.
James is survived by siblings, Richard Dillon, Helena McCarren, Maureen Bradley, Marguerite Michalas, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces, and nephews. James is predeceased by his parents, James and Margaret and his brother John Dillon.
