James Lionel Martin's Obituary
James Lionel Martin was born in Muskegon, Michigan on April 10, 1934 to the late Lionel and Carrie (Sutter) Martin and passed away on September 28, 2017 at home under the loving care of his family and Harbor Hospice at the age of 83. James is survived by his children, Denise (John) Urbanawiz, Mary Ann Glieden, Katherine Martin, Susan (James) Alston, Jean Schuler and Sherry (Charlie) Pieter, Polly Martin; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rita (Tony) Kroll, Bernie (Leslie) Martin; Fred Martin; sister-in-law, Darlene Martin; Raymond Vermeulen, Allan (Anne) Vermeulen, Cheryl (Elmo) Bell, Lynn (Jerry) Wright, Tammie (Jim) Fisher, Donna (Al) Raffie-Benton. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Martin; a brother, David Martin; along with his longtime love, Beverly Raffie and two of her sons, Greg Vermeulen and Dale Raffie. James was retired from Shaw Walker/Knoll after 40 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Shoreline Memorial Services on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Harbor Hospice Foundation or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
