Joe Dean Palen Sr.'s Obituary
Joe Dean Palen, age 78, passed away suddenly on June 19, 2026. He leaves behind his children, Robert of Coldwater, Michigan, Rebecca (Wolfgang), of Grand Haven, Michigan, and Joe Jr. of Robinson Township, Michigan; grandchildren, Madeline, Lauren, and Dylan all of Grand Haven; three siblings, Egbert H. Jr. “Butch” of Grand Haven, Edna Hurtubise, of Spring Lake, and Nancy Johnson, of Iowa; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Palen. Joe Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Egbert H. Palen Sr. and Mary E. (Deal) Schnicke; two siblings, Mary Lois (Dan) Garrow, of Mississippi and Robert Palen of Spring Lake.
Joe graduated from Holland High School, class of 1967. He went on to work for several different employers in the area. His last position before retirement was at Shape Corp. Joe was a motorcycle enthusiast. After retirement, he was always meeting friends over coffee at several area restaurants.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held later. The family asks in lieu of flowers to please consider a donation to the family to help with expenses.
