John J. Begert's Obituary
John J. Begert age 73 was born to the late Joseph and Mary Begert in Louisville, Kentucky on September 6, 1944 and passed away on May 17, 2018. John is survived by his children, Jennifer (Anthony Wilson) Begert, Morgan (Chris) Neutz Capers, and James (Elizabeth) Begert; several grand and great-grandchildren; his brother, Dennis (Marsha) Begert; a nephew, Michael Begert and niece, Danielle Begert. John was a 20-year veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving during the Vietnam War, and was retired from the Department of Corrections in Kentucky. He was a member of the Grand Haven Eagles Aerie #925, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. John was also a member of the American Legion Post #28 in Grand Haven, where a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM. A Go Fund Me page has been set up at
