John "Jack" L. Hanner's Obituary
John "Jack" Leo Hanner, age 92, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019. He was born in DuBois, PA on October 22, 1926 to George and Mabelle Hanner. Jack is survived by his children, Mary Pat Giordano of Milford, MI, John F. (Belinda Shavalier) Hanner of Muskegon and Paul Hanner of Lexington KY; 5 grandchildren, Jason K. (Janet) Peasley, Christopher J. (Kirby) Hanner, Megan (Ben) Rosenbach, Lindsey Hanner and Gregory Hanner; 3 great-grandchildren, Violet Evelyn Peasley, Elijah H. Rosenbach and Lily Evelyn Peasley; daughter-in-law, Amanda Hanner; sons-in-law, Jay Peasley and Michael Giordano; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, Joseph; daughters-in-law, Cynthia Hanner and Nancy Hanner; grandchildren, Stephen and Janelle Hanner. Jack worked at Hooker Chemical until he retired in 1983. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Whitehall American Legion and White Lake VFW Post. Jack was also a member of St. James Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling and dancing with his wife as members of dance clubs. Jack was a Penn State alumnus and avid fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 5149 Dowling St. in Montague. Visitation will take place at the church on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service time on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
