John H. Mahoney's Obituary
John H. Mahoney was born on February 6, 1941, to Maurice (Bill) and Viola Mahoney in Montague, Michigan. He passed away on March 30, 2022, on Easter Island, Chile. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Mahoney and wife, Linda Hoisington. John is survived by his daughters, Jannete (Jason) Kadzban, Tonia Mahoney Pâté; brother, Kenneth (K.P.) Mahoney; sisters Linda Prus and Sherri Jacobs; step-sons, Michael Burgess and Frank Burgess; Maria Isabel Pâté Niares; grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
John was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and recipient of the Purple Heart for an injury he received while serving in Vietnam. He loved people and enjoyed telling stories about his travels and adventures while serving in the military. John rang the bell for the Salvation Army and volunteered at the VFW for fish fries. In 2018 he moved to Easter Island to be with his daughter Tonia and his granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Shoreline Memorial Services, Whitehall Chapel, 816 S. Mears Ave. Whitehall, Michigan from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022. There will be a time of memory sharing at 1:30 p.m.
