John H. Stevens' Obituary
John H. Stevens, at age 77, passed away into his Saviors arms on Sunday, March 3, 2019. He was born in Lake City, Michigan on September 22, 1941 to the late John and Kathryn (Talsma) Stevens. John is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of 57 years; Children: Lisa Stevens, Hope Kieft, and Amy (Louis) Lesner; Grandchildren: Yavonne, Elena (Jose) Pacheco, Jessica, and Kristina; Great-grandchildren: Marco, Noelia, Diego, Valeria, Mauricio; his Sister, Joan Forsythe; Brother-in-law, Dell McDonald; Sisters-in-law, Luella Grooters and Linda Troxel; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his dear son-in-law, David Kieft; Brothers, Leonard (Maxine) Stevens, Richard (Dorothy) Stevens; Sister, Betty McDonald; Brothers-in-law, Bill Forsythe, John Grooters and LeRoy Troxel.
John was very talented and spent a lot of time in his wood working shop, fixing things, renovating and creating ways to solve problems. John retired from the State of Michigan where he worked as an investigator. After retirement, he helped many seniors through his business, A Handy Friend. He loved people and cared for them by helping them in many small ways. He hosted travelers with Barbara at their Blue Country Bed and Breakfast.
He was a past member of Calvary Baptist Church where he loved serving God by being a prayer warrior and active in many ministries. He is a member of Trinity Baptist Church, 4381 S. Sheridan Road, Muskegon where a Celebration of Life and Marriage will be held on his 58th Wedding Anniversary, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Scott Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions are appreciated to Trinity Baptist Church ministries in his honor or to the "Little Red House Inc. Adult Day Care Services" 311 E Exchange St, Spring Lake, MI 49456.
