Kenneth E. Vanderstelt's Obituary
Kenneth E. Vanderstelt, age 84, passed away at home surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. He was born in Muskegon on July 28, 1932 to Maurice and Mabel (Baker) Vanderstelt. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirly (Larabee); five children, Scott (Vandy) Vanderstelt, Tammy Kimball, Mark (Jennifer) Vanderstelt, Todd Vanderstelt and Lisa (Scott) Peterson; seven grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Amanda, Ashley, Shaine, Nick and Audra; great-grandchild, Brody; sister, Millie (Don) Roelofs; sister-in-law, Ruth Vanderstelt; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and step-father, Don VanderWall; brother, Clifford Vanderstelt. Kenneth had retired from Central Transport of Muskegon and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He had attended Church of the Open Door and Spring Lake Wesleyan. Kenneth was a member of the Muskegon Eagles Aerie 668 and the Muskegon Yacht Club. Kenneth enjoyed many years of sailing with family and friends on Muskegon Lake. He also enjoyed many extra years after his heart transplant that he received twenty-three years ago. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Congregational Church of Fruitport, 3212 Pontaluna Rd., Fruitport, MI 49415. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gift of Life.
