Leonard was a dear friend, and played my stealing for hearts. Steel Guitar show in Maryland for almost all 15 years, he was not only a kind soul, and a tremendous player on both Guitar and Steel Guitar, but one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. My Pappas was an asst pastor at four square church in Hanover. As a little girl Granny and Pappas took us to church. I loved hearing Birdie (Bertie) play the accordion. Several years back, could be 10 , she stopped at my parents house when we had a yard sale and she brought Leonard with her. I remember him telling us of all his musical adventures, people he played with, people he played for etc. This morning as I read the obituary in the merchandiser that conversation many years ago came back to me. I couldn't remember what his name was and I don't even know if I ever knew what Birdie's last name was. In Leonard's 97 years, I got to be part of a one hour conversation with him that has stuck with me. I am sorry for the families loss. Julie Brooks Smith
