Loren R. Dobe's Obituary
Loren R. Dobe, age 85, passed away on August 22, 2025, at Compassion House in Fremont, Michigan, surrounded by family. Born on February 9, 1940, Loren was the son of the late Leo and Doris (Swenson) Dobe. He was a man whose life was deeply rooted in love, laughter, and the joy he found in family, friends, and music.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Belinda, who was not only his companion but also the light of his life. Loren is also survived by his children: Stephanie (Joe) Leszczewicz, Paul (Kim) Dobe, Christopher (Denise) Dobe, Brandon (Kim) Dobe, Tony (Jennifer) Barnes, and Shannon (Charles) DeLora. Loren wore his title of "Papa" with pride, and his legacy continues through his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, whom he loved immensely.
Loren dedicated many years of hard work to CSX Railroad before retiring. In retirement, he enjoyed a second career as a limousine driver for over 12 years, where he thrived in meeting new people and sharing in their special moments.
Music was a major component of Loren's life. Whether strumming his guitar, picking the banjo, or playing the keyboard, he found happiness in the sound of melodies. He shared this passion by teaching guitar, inspiring others to find as much joy in music as he did. Beyond music, Loren cherished fishing trips with his son Paul, golfing with Buck, Nick, and Loren A., or challenging a friend or family member to a round of golf, and took great pride in tending to his lawn and landscaping. His life was also enriched by community and friendship. He and Belinda loved their trivia nights at the Blind Squirrel with the "Bird Flippers", and playing card games at True North. Fridays were reserved for "Ronday" with his dear friends, Loren Aslakson, Nick Swenson, and Ron Nichols, where they shared stories, laughter, and camaraderie. Loren could always be found enjoying his Coke while the others sipped their beer. These gatherings were a testament to the lifelong bonds he has built.
Above all, Loren's greatest joy was in the love he shared with Belinda and the life they built together. His steadfast devotion, kindness, and humor will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Loren's Life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 12 Noon at Fellowship Church, 4200 E. Apple Avenue in Muskegon.
In place of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Newaygo County Compassion Home, 20 S. Steward Ave., Fremont, MI 49412, in gratitude for the loving care they provided.
