Lorraine M. McMillan's Obituary
Lorraine May (Fase) McMillan went home to her Lord and Savior on September 2, 2022. She was born on April 17, 1959 in Grand Haven, MI to Richard P. and Lila (Johnson) Fase and graduated from GHHS in 1978. Laurie played in multiple sports and was an All-State first baseman. She loved fishing with her dad out on Lake Michigan. They won the GH Salmon Derby in the late 70's. She loved to snowmobile but age got the best of that. Laurie worked as a candy striper in high school, which made her want to be a nurse. She realized that dream and became a nurse in the 80's at Mercy Hospital. She also became a paramedic and flew with Aeromed as well as a lead medic with White Lake and Gerber. Her last nursing job was as a dialysis nurse educator. Laurie married Dennis McMillan on November 20th, 1999. At one point, she got her CDL and drove 18 wheelers for Koleascoe and VanEnden Trucking with her husband Dennis for 2 years. Laurie and her husband later sold everything and went full time RVing, traveling from Michigan to Florida in the winter and back to Michigan in the summer. During this time, Laurie worked as a store manager at Crockery Creek Ravenna and as a head cook with her husband at Sun Communities Resorts in Bushnell Florida. Her last job was as a lobby host at a McDonalds in Bushnell, Florida.Laurie loved helping others in need. She also loved meeting new people on her journeys. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rich and Lila (Johnson) Fase. She is survived by her husband Dennis McMillan, her stepmother Nancy (Marvin) Perry, sister Cindy (Lee) Oostendorp, sister-in-law Terri (Dick) Cunningham, sons Tim Kurburski (fiancé Jackie) and Matt Kurburski, stepdaughter Jill (Sean) Pearson, stepsons Keith (Rachel) McMillan and Jared (Tyler) McMillan, and grandchildren Brody, Kevin, Aria, Xander, Anabelle Kurburski; Kendall, Ashland, Xander Pearson; Jaxson, Hugh McMillan.Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 at 2pm at Sun Retreats Silver Lake 1441 N. 34th Ave. Mears, MI 49436. Parking will be across the street in the storage lot and someone will be there to show where to park. There will be a shuttle to the clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, donations to cover funeral expenses is appreciated.
