Lucille E. Bridgeford's Obituary
Lucille E. Bridgeford age 88 was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 8, 1934, to the late Limmie Horton and Robert Elzie and passed away on January 4, 2023. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Bridgeford.; two daughters, Demetria Ann Bridgeford and Maxine L Bridgeford; grandsons, Eric Q.L. Bridgeford, James R.T. Bridgeford, Jr. Lucille was born into a family of three siblings, two brothers, Albert (Ella) Walker, and Alvin (Susie) Jones; and a sister, Lilly May Horton; brothers-in-law, Buster Bridgeford, William "Hence" (Fannie) Flowers, Mr. and Mrs. Smith: close friends Inez and Floyd Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Gause, Irene Parchman all preceded her in death.
Lucille moved to Muskegon, Michigan at an early age. Lucille worked for Hackley Hospital for 10 years, and she worked as a school crossing guard for St. Jean's and St. Mary's School, then worked for the Muskegon Intermediate School District as a Teacher's Aide until her retirement. Lucille accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church under Reverend Buckley. Then became a member of Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Reverend Bankhead. Lucille Elzie met James Bridgeford and they married in 1950 and remained married until his passing on December 3, 2006. Together James and Lucille had eight daughters, and a son. Lucille enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting. Along with doing her girls hair, making t hem look like little princesses. She liked reading the Bible, and she liked watching her favorite TV shows.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Thelma Jamison, Hope Bridgeford, of Muskegon, Janey Bridgeford, Rebekah Bridgeford of Houston, Texas, Gentry A. Bridgeford, of Muskegon, Christy B. Martin, of Holland, Keeley (Christopher) Smith of Muskegon Heights; James R.T. (Tammy) Bridgeford, of Radcliff, Kentucky, Keenan Stringer, of Detroit. grandkids, Leticia (David), Desmond, Karyl (Jeremy), Reginald, Cameron (Angie), Christopher (Sherell), Krystle, Keith (LaKenya), RJ, Jason, Giona, Eric, Darrian, Jasiah, Tariah, Zaniah, Nyeisha, Kendrick, Nikia, Erica, and Joy, Destine (Elijah; nieces, Clara, Darnell, Barbara, Geraldine, Jimmy and Melissa; nephews, Michael, David, Blanche, Alvie, Jerry, Albert and Alvin; godkids, Shirley, Patsy, Marinda, Carole, Shawn, Bridget, Mark, Kabata, Henry, and extended family, the Bankhead Family, Hilda Thomas, Gentry Bunts, The Fikes Family, The Martin Family and The Collins Family, The Ray Family, Mother Bankhead was her very close and special person in Lucille's life.
Funeral Services will be held at Bethesda Baptist Church, located at 575 S. Getty Street in Muskegon, on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will be next to her husband James Bridgeford in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
