Mary Ann Adams' Obituary
Mary Ann (Burke) Adams, age 91, of Spring Lake passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at Heartwood Lodge at NOCHS in Spring Lake, MI. She was born in Detroit, MI on July 22, 1929 and attended Southeastern High School. She married the love of her life, Samuel Adams Jr. in Detroit in 1948 when he returned from WWII. She trained & worked with an orthodontist as she raised her family. They moved to Spring Lake in 1962 and Mary Ann became part of the North Ottawa Community Hospital family, supporting Human Resources & the Volunteer program for over 20 years.
She is survived by her 6 children, Mark (Dianne) Adams of Muskegon, Gary (Sue) Adams of Benton Harbor, Mary Ellen (Karl) Adams-Johnston of Cedar, Matt (Val) Adams of New Mexico, John (Jenna) Adams of Muskegon, and Paul (Char) Adams of Twin Lakes, WI; and several grandchildren/great grandchildren: Samantha Adams Bench (Brody & Addie), Kim Gifford (Tori, Bella & Emma), Luke & Lindsey Adams, AJ & Kelsey (Soren) Adams, Cassandra & Kevin Muir (Sophia & Mickaela), Haven & Casey Johnston (Gabriel), Derek & Lavinia Adams (Jackson, Benjamin, Levi, Aviendah, Freyja), Chelsea Adams & Bryan Rohr (Issac, Eli, Autumn, Jace), Logan Adams, Owen Adams, Gwen Adams, and Bryce Adams. Mary Ann is also survived by her brother Ron Burke. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Adams Jr., her sisters, Martha Burke & Nancy (Burke) Bruggeman, her brother Marvin Burke and granddaughter, Alicia Adams.
Mary Ann loved spending time with her family, children & grandchildren. She enjoyed being with people, laughing & sharing stories around the kitchen table, cooking, caring & sharing her big heart. She enjoyed taking drives down to the beach with her husband to visit beautiful Lake Michigan. Her love and support will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to personally thank Julie, Becky, and her angel Linda for their love & care during her time at Heartwood. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary Ann may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
