Mary J. Alcorn's Obituary
Mary Joan Alcorn, age 60, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, June 1, 2017. She was born in Muskegon on September 12, 1956 to Elvie and Marjean (DeWind) Borgerding. Mary is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Johnny; son, Eric (Sarah) Alcorn of Allendale, MI; 4 grandchildren, Jack, Lucy, Leo and Nolan Alcorn; sister, Janice (Mark) Gue; brother, Benjamin (Linda) Borgerding; brother-in-law, George Yedinak; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lee Yedinak and Anne Harker. Mary graduated from both the undergraduate and graduate programs at GVSU, receiving her MSW in 2005. Mary had worked as a social worker for Mercy Health Partners for 11 years. Previously she had been employed in several positions with Muskegon County. She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Mary had a loving and endearing heart and a soft spot for orphaned animals. A Memorial Visitation and Gathering will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Shoreline Memorial Services Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
