MaryAnn Verwey's Obituary
MaryAnn (Durga) Verwey was born on August 7, 1935, in Muskegon Heights, Michigan to the late Clarence B. and Fannie (Mason) Durga and passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the age of 88 years. Survivors include her children, Vanessa Blekicki and Lori K. (Steve) Baker; daughter-in-law, Brenda Verwey; several grand and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including, Davina "Jett" (Uno) Zamora; sister-in-law, Linna Durga. Along with her parents, MaryAnn was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Edward E. Verwey; several children, Edwin J. Bailey, John Verwey, Dennis Verwey, Brian Verwey, Chris (Ken) Barnes, Craig Verwey, and Janiece Emmert; siblings, Claude, Ivan, Thelma, Vern (Donna), Emeline, and Eldon.
MaryAnn was a member of the East Broadway Reunion, along with volunteering for numerous Red Cross Blood Drives. MaryAnn was an active and a longtime member of the Fruitport Eagles #3666, 3354 Dangle Road, Muskegon, MI 49444, where a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 12 Noon to 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Leila & Cyrus Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence or to the Fruitport Eagles #3666 Women's Auxiliary.
