Michael Chidester's Obituary
Michael Lyle Chidester departed this life unexpectedly in the early hours on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the age of 81. He was born on February 12, 1943, in Muskegon, Michigan and was a lifelong resident who retired from Sappi paper mill. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan Chidester of 60 years; 3 children, Michael (Christina), Lucy (Charles) and Luke; 6 grandchildren, Sabrina, Brad, Summer, Noah, Rhiannon and Samantha; 4 great-grandchildren, Savannah, Jayda, Jayla and Izayah. Michael was preceded in death by Lyle and Mary Chidester; sister, Beverly and brother-in-law, Dan DeLong. He will be remembered for his spirit that lives on in the kindness he showed, the love he shared and the wisdom he imparted. Mike cherished cooking out with the family he created. From sunrise to sunset, he enjoyed boating the Great Lakes on Sabrina's Summer Ray. Mike had a good time playing golf throughout the years with fellow friends. He also enjoyed playing softball and was an avid hunter.Per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Memorial contributions can be made to the MS Society.
