Nancy Lee Schneider's Obituary
Nancy Lee Schneider, the knot that held her family strings together, was born on July 16, 1950, in Muskegon, Michigan to the late David "Pete" and Harriet M. (Weyerbacher) Shelkey and passed away at home on October 4, 2025. The youngest of ten siblings, Nancy had a special love of family and is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Russ; children, Sarah (Bud Maycroft) Wilkins and Russel Schneider, Jr.; grandchildren, Logan and Lorelei Schneider, Jennifer (Stewart Conyers) Maycroft; great-grandchildren, Lilly Maycroft, and Jerrell Klein; siblings, Frances "Pat", Weselow, Gloria Crain, Susan Smith, bonus brother, Michael Bentley; brother-in-law, Franklyn Morningstar; numerous nieces, nephews, and bonus grandchildren; Along with her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Kay Schneider in infancy; siblings Darlene Pickering, Marion Bentley, Lester (Joyce) Shelkey, Ronald Shelkey, Clyde Shelkey, and Doris Johnston.
After raising her family Nancy returned to school and earned her associates degree and retired from retail management after over 35 years of working in the industry. She was patriotic and loved God and her country. She was a fan of the Detroit Tigers, an avid reader and great cook who loved hosting family get togethers and functions.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a Home Going Celebration will be held at Claybanks United Methodist Church, 9197 56th Avenue, Montague, Michigan 49437 on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the family. If you would like to send an arrangement, her family would like you to consider White Lake Greenhouses in honor of her past employment history.
