Norma Jean Damvelt's Obituary
Norma Jean Damvelt passed away May 20, 2026, at her home in Ravenna after a brief illness. Norma was born March 6, 1939, in Muskegon, to Maynard and Marguerite Gould. She is survived by her children Linda (Johnnie) Hawkins of Muskegon, LeAnn (Roger) Gould of Nunica, and James (Jenn) Damvelt of Spring City, TN. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, 1 sister and 1 sister-in-law along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel, and her son Larry VanNoordwyk, as well as 3 sisters, niece, and nephew.
Norma loved God, her family, gardening and her pets. She was an excellent cook, spent many hours every year canning, and up until recently had a beautiful flower garden. She knitted beautiful blankets, and her grandkids were blessed to be given one specifically made for them for their baptism.
Following her wishes, Norma has been cremated.
We will celebrate Norma with a memorial service on Saturday July 11, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, 300 E Cleveland, Coopersville, MI. Visitation with family starting at 10:00, service at 11:00. A light luncheon will follow
Memorial gifts can be given to Noah’s Project, Heaven Can Wait, or Grace Lutheran Church.
