Norma J. Holland's Obituary
Norma Jean (VanderSys) Semkiw-Holland, age 81, was born in Ferrysburg, Michigan, on September 11, 1934 and passed away on September 20, 2015. Norma is survived by her children, Bruce Semkiw, Lance (Karen) Semkiw, Lisa (Peter) Plomp and Scott (Shelia) Semkiw; former daughters-in-law, Becky Rasche and Cheryl Rainbolt; seven grandchildren, Will (April) Semkiw, Shannon (Jeff) Jurecki, Chelsea Semkiw, Heather Semkiw, Micaela Semkiw, Megan (Todd) Kuhlman, Brandon (Ashley) Semkiw; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, Logan Jurecki, Crystal Semkiw, Alexandria Semkiw, Will Semkiw Jr., Breylin Semkiw, Ghaige Semkiw; former husband, Gary Holland; her brothers, Dennis (Janet) VanderSys and Rodney VanderSys; close friends, Jane Millet, Peggy Shackelford, and Melanie Slater. Norma was preceded in death by, her parents Art and Hannah VanderSys, and former husband, Bill Semkiw. She worked with her parents at North Shore Motel, as a nurse for several local Doctors, including, Dr. Larry Poel and Dr. Robert Pierce. She also taught nurse aide training at Reeths Puffer Schools. Norma was the original builder and operator of Miss Lisa's Ice Cream in Ferrysburg which was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Wheat some 30 years ago and they still happily operate it today. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and private family services have been held.
