Richard Robert Skoglund's Obituary
Richard Robert Skoglund, age 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on March 4, 2025. He was born on April 17, 1936, in Muskegon, to the late Arthur J. and Elsie (Peterson) Skoglund. Rich was married to his loving wife, Carla Jane Skoglund, for 65 years until her passing in October of 2024. Along with Carla he was preceded in death by their son, Richard Skoglund Jr. and six siblings.
Richard's memory lives on through his children, Laurel (Ken) Simons and Dan (Jeannie) Skoglund, his grandchildren, Rachel Simons, Richard (Josefine) Simons, Kimberly Skoglund, and Kaitlin (David) Genslak; sister-in-law, Gerry Collins as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Rich served in the United States Army Reserve and was retired from Sealed Power with over 40 years of service. After retirement he spent another 20 years working in the funeral service industry. He spent many years working as a volunteer with the Muskegon Rescue Mission. Carla and Rich were lifelong members of Olivet Evangelical Free Church located at 6790 Harvey Street, Spring Lake where Funeral Services to honor his life will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held, also at the church, on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery next to Carla and their son, Richard Skoglund Jr. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Muskegon Rescue Mission or Olivet Evangelical Free Church.
