Robert R. "Bob" Chambers passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 21, 1932. Moving to Muskegon in 1942, he began to make lifelong friends and married his beloved Patricia, (nee Westerman), in May 1952. They were married for 63 years before her passing in 2014.

He was at heart a loving husband and father, the favorite brother to his five sisters, and a generous man, serving his community in ways both large and small. He served eight years in the Michigan National Guard stationed at Camp Grayling. He was active at Sacred Heart Church as a member of the Parish Council. He was on the Muskegon Heights City Commission and participated in the local Junior Achievement program. He started his own business in 1978, Chambers Personnel Services, which he operated successfully for over 35 years.

Bob was an avid golfer; belonging to a local golf league, a state cribbage champion and a member of the Muskegon Cribbage Club, and a fan of Detroit sports - especially the Red Wings.

Pat & Bob, as they were known, shared a love of art museums, antiquing, poetry and music - everything from Abba to opera - and were supporters of local theatre, raising funds for and traveling to England with the Cherry County Playhouse. Together they raised five children, who hold dear the memories of picnics at SIlver Lake, going camping, and many family vacations. It was a privilege to have them as parents. The two of them will be forever loved and remembered always.

Bob was survived by his children, Janene (Tom) Englehard, Larry (Melinda) Chambers, Kathy (John) Goven, Mary Kennedy, twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Hammond and wife Patricia.

A private service has taken place. Donations in his memory can be made to Doctors Without Borders, the ACLU or The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence.
