Roma L. Spears' Obituary
Roma Lee Spears was born in Gill, West Virginia in 1939 having turned 83 on October 29, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Deanna Inez Spears; son, Roger (Amie Lynn) Spears of Norton Shores; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters and 1 brother; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shari Marie Spears who passed away several years ago.
Roma graduated from Oceana High School in Oceana, West Virginia in 1957. He enlisted in the United States Navy to serve his country in 1958. While in the Navy, he met Deanna Falkenstein, while based at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Roma and Deanna were married in 1960 and moved to Michigan in 1962.
Roma joined the Wayne County Sheriff's Department and later the Taylor Police force where he worked until his retirement as a lieutenant in 1990.
Roma and Deanna traveled the country, enjoying fishing and boating. They lived in Reno, Nevada and South Carolina before returning to West Michigan.
Private family services will be held for Roma. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Muskegon.
