Ruth Gerda Ingeborg Bostrom's Obituary
Ruth Gerda Ingeborg (Matts) Bostrom was born in Korsnas, Finland on May 29, 1925 to Vilhelm and Alma (Andtfolk) Matts, and went to the Heavenly Valhalla on March 24, 2026, at the well lived age of 100. On June 18, 1950, Ruth married Erik H. D. Bostrom and spent 52 wonderful years together before Erik passed in May 2012. Together Erik and Ruth had 5 children: E. Britt-Louise Hichue, John (Etta), Donald Sr. (Jane), Henry (Pat) and Michael, 14 Grandchildren, 28 Great-grandchildren, and 4 Great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews in USA and Finland. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Sister Elin, Brothers Max and Georg, grandson John, and son-in-law Arlyn. Ruth worked at Olaf’s Kro, then Mike’s Kro for over 18 years. She loved bowling, golf and the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. Ruth was a 59-year member of Vikings-Linne’ Lodge #57.
A private Family service will be held Monday March 30, 2026, with a Celebration of Life for friends following at Vikings Lodge starting at 1pm. Memorial contributions can be made to Harbor Hospice Foundation or Vikings “RAM Scholarship” Fund.
