Scott A. Hazekamp's Obituary
Scott Albert Hazekamp Sr., age 55, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was born on January 28, 1971, in Muskegon.
Scott graduated from Oakridge High School in 1989. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Benning and went on to earn his place among the elite by graduating from Airborne Infantry training with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was stationed at Fort Bragg during his service, where he proudly served as a sniper during Desert Storm. His military service spanned from 1989 to 1995, followed by two additional years in the Army Reserve.
On October 3, 1998, Scott married the love of his life, Lisa Hazekamp, beginning a partnership rooted in love, loyalty, and unwavering support.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Madelynn Hazekamp.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Hazekamp; his sons, Zachery Aldrich, Scott Hazekamp Jr. (and his girlfriend, Abbey), and Gavin Hazekamp (and his girlfriend, Chasity); his sibling, Joy Hazekamp; his father-in-law, Dan McShannock; his mother-in-law, Susan McShannock; and his brother-in-law, Michael McShannock.
Scott was deeply proud of his service to the country he loved so much. A devoted man of God, he lived his life putting others before himself. He was always ready to lend a helping hand—never asking questions, only “when and where.” His greatest love was his family, and he showed that every day through his constant support, strength, and care.
Known for his great sense of humor, Scott had a way of bringing laughter wherever he went. His presence could light up a room, and those fortunate enough to know him will remember his kindness, his strength, and the joy he brought into their lives.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with the memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m., and a small reception afterward at Shiloh Tabernacle, 460 E. Tyler Rd, Muskegon, MI 49445.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with service expenses.
Scott leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, love, and laughter that will never be forgotten.
