Vivian Garman Simonelli's Obituary
Vivian Simonelli was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on September 26, 2020 at the age of 92. She died from complications of Covid-19. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Louis Marino Simonelli.
Vivian Garman Simonelli was born on January 27, 1928 in Chicago to Stanley and Agnes Garman from Muskegon, Michigan. She spent most of her vibrant life in Muskegon, enjoying relatively good health and extending love to everyone she met.
Vivian Simonelli is survived by her four children: Louis Simonelli, Jr. and his wife, Kim, from Muskegon; Lori Cramblet and her husband, Dave ,of Crestview, FL; Annette Nash of Grand Haven, MI; and Catherine Hommes of Ipswich, MA. Vivian was the loving grandmother of eight grandchildren: Tony, Joey and Emma, Rocky, and Samantha Simonelli of Muskegon; Matthew and Keisha Cramblet of Pensacola, FL; Jared and Kelby Cramblet of Destin, FL; Kristin and Jim Fuller of Baker, FL; Aaron and Kelly Nash of Fort Meyers, FL; Peter and Joleen Nash of Grand Haven, MI; Eden and Mike Huma of Healdsburg, CA; Ariel and Justin Paulissian of Batavia, IL; and Christian and Hilary Hommes of Nashville, TN. Grandma Simi was the proud great grandma of eleven great grandchildren: Easton, Ainsley, Ocean, Braydon, Bryce, Ashur, Silas, Christian, Juniper, Gabriel, and Elliot. Mrs. Simonelli is also survived by her brother, Julius Garman of Windimere, FL.
Vivian Garman was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School and Hackley Hospital School of Nursing. Vivian retired from Muskegon Community College School of Nursing where she was a popular nursing instructor. Vivian was a member of Calvary Memorial Church and for many years worked with Child Evangelism Fellowship.
At her home on Holton Road, Vivian exercised her exceptional gift of hospitality from morning to night by answering the door with a warm smile, offering a cup of coffee, cookies and her undivided attention to family members, life-long friends, neighbors and Meijer shoppers who stopped by before or after a grocery run. For Vivian had an endless capacity for love, generosity, and joy that drew others to her like a magnet, a River of Living Water that flowed from her due to her intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Her life of prayer and love for the Word of God continued during her last four years while living in Christian Care Assisted Living. There she played the role of official greeter to new residents, read the Bible to and prayed over the sick and the dying, and checked on her fellow residents each night to make sure they were tucked in.
We, your family, are so very grateful for the 92 years of sharing your life and love with us! We, your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren can truly say that you fit the description of a 'godly woman' as described in Proverbs 31: 26 - 31
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
"Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fear the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
You are greatly loved and will be desperately missed.
Due to the challenges of the pandemic, no services are scheduled for this time. The family plans to hold a celebration of Vivian's life in the summer.
