Walter Maxwell Ritter Jr.'s Obituary
We are devastated to announce the loss of a great man. On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Walter Maxwell Ritter Junior, born October 17, 1935, passed away surrounded by his loved ones at home.
He goes on to join his wife of almost 55 years, Jeanne, whom we lost five years ago. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Anna (Boukamp) Ritter, his siblings Bob, Don, Chuck, Joyce and his children, Susan, Tommy, David and Thomas.
Walt was beloved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by his siblings Gloria and Jerry, his daughters Lisa (Robert) and Laura (Joe), his grandchildren Lawrence (Soo Jin), Jessica, James, Janae (Ken), Amanda (Russ), Joe, David, Alexi (Ian), Anais (Ian), Emery, Sean and Tom.
He was also lucky enough to be Papa to his great-grandchildren: Ava, Mason, Becky, Eric, Ayden, Rhyker, Jasmyn, Zane, Caiden, Ariana, Marceline, Eli, Coralyn, Easton and Genesis. He will be especially missed by his special friend, Sharlynn.
Walt was a teacher and mentor to many. He retired from Howmet/Alcoa after many years there in management and went on to consult for them. He went on to teach the Bible in classes for years. His last class was at his apartment complex with (as he called them), the "Village" people.
He and Jeanne loved to travel. They visited locations worldwide, including Thailand and Germany. They made friends everywhere, and Walt was infamous for seeing people he knew in unexpected places.
We will miss him every day but know he will be with us in the many lives he touched. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Shoreline Memorial Services, 137 E. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Spreading the Word Ministry in care of Thomas and Evelyn Bump 1359 West Arthur Rd, New Era, Michigan 49446. If a tax receipt is needed you may donate to their sister ministry Infaith Mission 145 John Robert Thomas Dr. Exton, PA 19341. This was a ministry close to Walt's heart that works with youth.
