Wayne L. Whisler's Obituary
Wayne Lamar Whisler was born on September 22, 1950 in Sturgis, Michigan to the late Arnold L. and Audrey A. (Carper) Whisler and passed away on August 3, 2017 at the Hillcrest nursing and Rehabilitation Community surrounded by his family and friends. He fought a courageous battle against lung cancer until the very end. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Whisler. Wayne is survived by his wife of 14 years, Judy Whisler of Muskegon; his brother, Frank Whisler of Texas; step-children, Derek (Laura) Lee of Muskegon, Lisa (Rob) Huckfeldt of Albion, Mark Lee, Lanetta Lee, and Donald Lee; several grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; cousins Donnie and Connie Balyeat; special friends, Theresa Flyn, Katie Colburn and Rachael Kiogima, and the entire staff of the Hillcrest and biker community. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. Wayne loved racing his stock car on the dirt tracks and riding his custom trike. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and interment will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek, Michigan at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017. He will be escorted there by motorcycles, arrangements for that will also be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to his wife Judy to help with expenses.
