William "Bill" Gilliland Jr.'s Obituary
William Gilliland Jr., “Bill”, a loyal family man, aged 78 was born on November 19, 1947, in Springfield, Illinois to the late William Sr. and Zolena Gilliland and passed away at home on March 16, 2026. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother Steven Gilliland; father-in-law, Ray Rust; two brothers-in-law, Ron Essenberg and Randie Risher. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Cindie; two children, William III (LeeAnn) Gilliland, and Angela (Todd) Schwer; grandchildren, Billy IV, Brandon (Ali), Brieanna (Austin), Justin, Kaile, Abbe (DJ), Abigayle (Conor), Amelia; great-grandchildren, William V, Ember, Lennon, and a few more on the way; siblings, Allen (Mary) Gilliland and Sherrie Loureiro; mother-in-law, Joyce Rust (Keith), sisters-in-law, Lyndie Essenberg, Linda Murray; brother-in-law, Dannie Risher; several nieces and nephews.
Bill retired from Consumers Energy after 25 years of service. Bill, a longtime Lions fan enjoyed being a member at several clubs in the greater Muskegon area including the Fruitport Eagles, Elks, Vikings Lodge #57, VFW, and Mona Lake Boat Club where he played cards, enjoyed fishing, and spending time on their boat.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held later.
