William R. "Bill" Phillips, Sr.'s Obituary
William Russell "Bill" Phillips Sr. age 90 was born in Muskegon, Michigan to the late William E. and Ethel (Russell) Phillips on February 21, 1930 and passed away on January 25, 2021. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Anne Phillips; a son James Phillips; and a sister, Eunice Phillips. Survivors include his wife, of over 10 years, E. Maxine Crotty-Phillips; his son, William R. Phillips Jr.; stepchildren, Jackie (Mike Fox) Venne, and Vince Crotty; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren including, Paul (Dianna) Phillips; Grayson and Jonas Phillips; several nieces and nephews. Bill was graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1948. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Korean War on a Destroyer (the USS Twining). He later worked as a machinist at Sealed Power for over 40 years before his retirement. Bill enjoyed spending his free time at the golf course and driving range.
Bill and Maxine are members of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church where a private Memorial Service will be held with Pastor John Huyser officiating.
Interment will be next to his first wife Shirley in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to Fruitport Christian Reformed Church.
