Charles "Babe" Johnston's Obituary
Charles H. "Babe" Johnston was born in Twin Lake, Michigan on January 9, 1925 to the late Charles H. and Mildred Johnston and passed away at home on October 19, 2019. Charles was preceded in death by two wives, Betty Johnston in 2001 and Pauline Johnston in 2014. He is survived by his son, David (Jean) Johnston; step-daughters, Paula Perona, Nicki Phillips, Jorja (Bob) Creighton, Lisa (Hilton) Garner; granddaughter, Kendra (Doug) VanderLee; three great grandchildren, Alyssa, Jordyn and Mac Kynzie. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Fred, Alan and Charlene. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He worked many years as a heavy equipment operator before his retirement. Funeral Services will be held at Shoreline Memorial Services, Whitehall Chapel, located at 816 S. Mears Ave. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend George Stehle officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be next to his wife, Betty in Twin Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
